Lady Gaga plays new music on streets of Paris – from a laptop

Singer gives Little Monsters a preview of her latest album

Lady Gaga popped out of a limousine sunroof in Paris on Sunday to give fans a preview of her forthcoming seventh album.
The singer, who performed at the Olympic opening ceremony this week left her hotel with her laptop and played about 20 seconds of an electronic beat before laughing, blowing a kiss and disappearing back into the car.
Her fans – who she calls her Little Monsters – stayed put, chanting her name and lines from her other songs.
They knew they were in for a treat after Lady Gaga posted a message on Instagram saying: “I’m so deeply touched by French fans this week outside the hotel, I’m gonna come out and say goodbye tonight – with a few seconds of #LG7.”
Wearing black shades and a black jacket, the singer reappeared from the top of the limo, telling the crowd that she would do “one more”. She also mouthed a lyric that appeared to be “I’ve become what was holding me”.
The 38-year-old posed for photographs before returning to her hotel with the message: “And for the rest, you have to wait!”
The singer is currently in France for the 2024 Olympics, where she performed the cabaret song Mon Truc en Plumes (My Thing with Feathers) during Friday’s opening ceremony.
She said her team had rented the pink pom poms used in the act from the Le Lido archive – a former Parisien cabaret theatre –  and that she studied French choreography to put a modern twist on the classic.
“I feel so completely grateful to have been asked to open the Paris Olympics 2024 this year,” she said.
“I am also humbled to be asked by the Olympics organising committee to sing such a special French song, a song to honour the French people and their tremendous history of art, music and theatre.”
Gaga’s street performance came hours after she watched swimming and gymnastics events. She had earlier wished athletes taking part all the best, saying “Let the Games begin”.
Her new album, which is currently untitled, will be her first solo record since 2020’s Chromatica, which included hit singles Stupid Love and Rain On Me.
